Craster W. I. Keep Britain Tidy Clean-up
August 18th 2009
The following is a report submitted to the editor of the Northumberland Gazette following the day tidying up in Craster...
A Clean-up took place in Craster as part of the Keep Britain Tidy Campaign. Members of the W. I., children and their parents got together and spent an afternoon going round the village play-park, harbour and car parks. It was a very sociable and productive time. We wore the Campaign’s green tabards and carried the large green bags that were eye as well as litter catching.
The car parks were the worst areas for litter – so please visitors, take your litter home or put it in the bins provided.
One member of the W. I. had a very successful tidy up, collecting amongst other things, a digital camera (which was handed in to the Tourist Centre), a 10 pence piece (given to the Church) and a mushroom – taken home for supper.
We ended the afternoon with juice and a biscuit at St. Peter’s Church and decided it had been a fun and worthwhile activity on a wet afternoon.
