December - Christmas Party

Santa came early for members of Craster WI. Every member of the institute and every guest left our Christmas party with a gift, a full stomach and a happy heart.  Seven lucky people had the added bonus of a raffle prize. The full stomachs were due to the excellent pooled supper, which had been provided by the members.  Our happy hearts were to due to the excellent entertainment.  This consisted of a wide and varied selection of songs and anecdotes delivered in their own inimitable style by the group 3+2.  The programme featured Northumbrian songs, Christmas songs, songs from the shows and so much more. The monologue about the use of mobile phones had us nodding empathetically with wry smiles.  The “surprise visit” from a well-known Welsh Soloist will never be forgotten

We were thrilled that our Cancer Coffee Morning had been a great success. The proceeds of £672.18 were split between North Northumberland Hospice Care and Seahouses and District Cancer Care Relief.

Members were informed that a letter has been received from Taylors of Harrogate re Fairtrade logo. Jonathon Wilde from Taylor’s tea explained there are other ways to maintain fairness and requested that the WI reconsider its campaign encouraging tea companies to go Fairtrade

Craster WI members have a lot more to look forward to before our January meeting as we have a Christmas carol service in Newcastle as well as a Christmas dinner at Cragside.  It is just a shame we have been knocked out of both the darts and the dominoes.
