Report of Annual Meeting held on 1st April 2010

There is a song “it’s oh so nice to go trav’ling but it’s so much nicer, yes it’s so much nicer to come home”.  We felt a bit like that at Craster W.I on the 1st April.  We have had a series of meetings that were a little out of the ordinary so it was lovely to get back to a normal meeting.

Did you know that professional dancers often use olive oil on the soles of their shoes?  This was one of the many titbits of information that interspersed a dazzling display of the Slow Foxtrot, the Tango, the Latin Rumba and the Pas a Double given by Eddie and Diane Billington- ballroom dancers extraordinaire.  Fred and Ginger Rogers eat your hearts out, you have nothing on this couple.

Congratulations to Trish Flegg won the competition for the second time this year.

Some people adopt dogs, cats or children but our W.I has decided to support our 2009 resolution and go one step further by adopting a beehive.  We promise not to fight over the gifts of British honey or honey mustard, a wooden honey dipper and a newsletter.

We also promise to keep our clothes on during our trip next week to see “The Calendar Girls” in Newcastle and are looking forward to our annual outing in May.
