Craster PC Update – 12 Feb 17

Prepared by Cllr Kate Cairns

Quarry Car Park Surfacing Programme

The surfacing programme is scheduled for 27th February over 4 days which should allow for all the surfacing and road markings to be completed (weather permitting). The PC Chairman suggested that the land owner of Bart Potts be asked to open up the area for alternative parking. This request has been refused. Work will take place after the school holidays and during the week when demand is at it’s lowest.

Gateway Works and Speed Restrictions

Feedback from the PC at the last meeting on maintaining the speed limit at 40mph between Dunstan and Craster has been noted. The trees on the inside of the bend do restrict forward visibility and will need cutting back in the future if they encroach onto the carriageway. Any trees that obstruct the signs will need to be removed however. This project is in the LTP 17/18.

Blocking parking on the verge

Investigations are being made into ways to prevent parking on the Bogue Rd. Options are bollards, wooden posts or double yellow lines. Prices are being sought for wooden posts. The PC also proposed a footpath along this stretch, which would have implications on options.

Dog Control Campaign

Officers are preparing a report on a future dog control campaign that will include wide ranging aspects including a responsible dog owner charter. This will be presented to both urban and rural cabinet advisory groups (CAGs) on the 8th March following which after the 'Purdah' period in May all parish councils will be consulted on proposals and invited to a campaign launch event in early June 17.

MyStreet Northumberland

A new mobile phone app has been launched to make it easier to report issues affecting their local communities. ‘MyStreet Northumberland’ can be downloaded and used to access information on a number of problems such as anti-social behaviour, noise, litter, dog fouling, streetlighting and roads, in all one place.
