Report of Meeting held in January 2012

The festivities being over and done with once more, our first meeting of 2012 began as usual with the singing of Jerusalem. Members were told that as part of the celebration of our mammoth fundraising we have raised the Competition Winners Money £15 £10 £7.

Winner 2012 is Trish with 25 points
Second Shirley 18 points
Third joint Marjorie and Vivienne 14 points
Well done to Sybil 13 points
Heather 12 points
Ann Mallen 11 points
Sheila Dixon 10 points.

Subscriptions were collected and the list of hostesses for the first few months of the year was put up in the hall.

Votes were cast for 2012 WI resolution. “Fuel Poverty” was the clear favourite followed by “midwives”. The winner at regional level was “Midwives”.

Members signed up for the annual dinner at the Horseshoes as well as for a talk by Ann Cleves [the woman who wrote the books that Vera was based] as well as trips to the quilt museum in York, a trip to Heighley Gate and a visit to the Spring Council Meeting.

The secretary gave a talk about life in Shantou China the hometown of her daughter in law.
