Report of Meeting held in September 2012

We had our second meeting in Copley Hall whilst the Memorial Hall is being refurbished. Joyce Shaw informed the meeting that asbestos is being removed on September 17th and will be closed until the work is completed. We consider ourselves very lucky to have such a lovely hall at our disposal. We have been made to feel very welcome.

There were several items of business. These included a plea for all entries for “Big Walk little Splash” to be given to the secretary as the deadline is looming. The autumn and Christmas events at Heighley Gate were mentioned. No one has entered for the autumn event but some people expressed an interest in exhibiting something in December. Clipboards were circulated as invitations have been received from Embleton and Belford WIS and people signed up for these. Several members signed up for the Domino Drive at Stannington Village Hall on 9th November 12-3pm. Beetle Drive 11th march 2013 Shilbottle 2-4pm £5 including tea. Other items from the WI life were dealt with.

The secretary Marion Gallon and the President Sylvia Biott announced their intention to resign in November 2013 and encouraged people to volunteer for the positions.

We were very grateful to our speaker for stepping in at the last moment to talk about the charity “Send a Cow to Africa”. Our original one was due to give birth.

Elizabeth Herd won the competition for an object beginning with G.
