Report of Meeting held in December 2013

Members and friends were welcomed to the December meeting by the president Mrs Joyce Shaw, Jerusalem was sung.

The secretary Doris Clarke gave details of the Christmas meal at the Cottage Inn, Dunstan, and the music in Hexham Abbey.

Supper was provided by members of the committee, who made a delicious savory and sweet buffet.

All this took place by gentle candle light as the village was in darkness. The electricity was restored just in time for the entertainment to start.

Our entertainment was Ernie Coe, Avril Huntley and Anita who accompanied her songs with her guitar. She sang in praise of Northumberland, then there were Christmas bells with Ernie and a hand bell. What fun

Ernie then related Nativity tales from schools in Rothbury, Scots Cap and Durham, he is a great storyteller.

Avril Huntley gave us an example of Incy Wyncy Spider, My Pit, Laddie, the Waters of Tyne and finished with the carol Silent Night.

Joyce Shaw gave the vote of thanks. The raffle winners were Pat Jones, Ann Mallon, Beryl Ainsley. Also raffled were table arrangements made by Sybil Dawson.

Birthday flowers were presented to Jeannette Archbold, Joyce Shaw and M Sodenberg.

We were grateful to Pauline Brown and Hilary Punton for washing up for us. Our next meeting is on January 2.
