Report of Meeting held in December 2013
Members
and friends were welcomed to the December
meeting by the president Mrs Joyce Shaw, Jerusalem was sung.
The
secretary Doris Clarke gave details of the Christmas meal at the
Cottage Inn,
Dunstan, and the music in Hexham Abbey.
Supper
was provided by members of the committee, who made a delicious savory
and sweet
buffet.
All
this took place by gentle candle light as the village was in darkness.
The
electricity was restored just in time for the entertainment to start.
Our
entertainment
was Ernie Coe, Avril Huntley and Anita who accompanied her songs with
her
guitar. She sang in praise of Northumberland, then there were Christmas
bells
with Ernie and a hand bell. What fun
Ernie
then related Nativity tales from schools in Rothbury, Scots Cap and
Durham, he
is a great storyteller.
Avril
Huntley gave us an example of Incy Wyncy Spider, My Pit, Laddie, the
Waters of
Tyne and finished with the carol Silent Night.
Joyce
Shaw gave the vote of thanks. The raffle winners were Pat Jones, Ann
Mallon,
Beryl Ainsley. Also raffled were table arrangements made by Sybil
Dawson.
Birthday
flowers were presented to Jeannette Archbold, Joyce Shaw and M
Sodenberg.
We
were grateful to Pauline Brown and Hilary Punton for washing up for us.
Our
next meeting is on January 2.
