Report of Meeting held in February 2013
The February meeting consisted of our annual dinner at
The Horseshoes. There was however some essential business that had to
be attended to
before we could enjoy the delicious meal and friendly hospitality on
offer.
There were two matters to be discussed and voted upon.
1 Raffle tickets.
It was agreed by a majority vote with only one person
objecting that it was acceptable for members to be given one strip of
raffle tickets for
a £1. The WI will not making any more money by doing this as nobody
ever bought 50p worth of raffle tickets. The chances of winning are not
affected by the change in price as everyone is getting fewer tickets.
Our reasons for doing this were to bring us in to line with other WIs
and also to cut down on the number of tickets that needed to be folded
each month.
2 Denman.
There was also a majority vote against raising
subscriptions in order to keep Denman College. The secretary will
answer the relevant question
in the Denman survey accordingly. A motion was put forward from the
floor that a suggestion should be made that it would be more
appropriate to spend money on keeping Denman open rather than producing
the WI Life. This motion was passed unanimously.
Members were given the opportunity to sign up for the
following activities.
