Report of Meeting held in June 2013
There was
considerable business to get through as we have had several invitations
and
payment is due for the 100 club, diaries and calendars.
We were reminded
that “Teas in the boathouse” is on 14th July.
All help in our annual fundraiser will be
appreciated.
Members were told
about the autumn event which is to be held at Heighley Gate again. The theme this time is “Everything in a
bottle or a jar.”
Information was given about the five courses that
Northumberland Federation has booked at Denman College 8TH-11TH
September 2014.
Shilbottle and Belford WI have invited our members
to their meetings. Shilbottle have asked us to attend their “Summer
Meeting”
where the Michael Barratt duo will sing and play and a delicious supper
will be
provided.
Belford WI has issued an
invitation for 4 people to
take part in “Dominoes and Strawberry tea.” Tuesday July 16th
2pm.
The invitation to
Hedgley is on Tuesday 9th July 7.30 in Breamish Hall
-
There
will be an exhibition of “Flowers and wedding dresses” in Whittingham. 14th -17th June
Members were
reminded that the President and the Secretary were resigning in
November and
they were encouraged to attend the Secretary/ President/ Treasurer
Workshop on Wednesday
20th September
Other activities
from “The Northumbrian” were mentioned including “Ready steady Flower
arranging”
which is to be run by our speaker for the June meeting.
We decided that we
would quite like to be twinned up with another WI and Marion Gallon is
to
investigate this further. We thought it
might be appropriate to twin up with one that was as different from
ours as
possible.
The main activity
of the evening was a great success as a lot of us discovered hidden
artistic
talents. The standard of the sugar paste
roses produced was very high. Our
speaker Marjorie Reid decided that Anne Mallen had produced the best
one. 2nd was Alice Green and 3rd
Nancy Nicholson.
