Report of Meeting held in May 2013
As one of
the
villagers remarked Craster W.I. were off on a charabanc
trip. Our friendly Travelsure driver took us
to
Wallington Hall where we had a delightful three hours exploring
whatever took
our fancy.
Two of our
members
had a grand time practicing their Grand Prix driving courtesy of the
mobility
scooters provided. We all found
Wallington to be a fascinating place with lots to see both inside the
house and
out in the gardens. The model soldiers
and the Hammond House made a particular impression.Imagine having a
doll’s house with running water and electricity.
We all
decided our
tree climbing days were behind us so not one person attempted to scale
the tree
recommended by the National Trust. I
think we had visions of having to summons the fire brigade to get us
down. We
took advantage of the café instead where
some members availed themselves of the delicious cakes on offer.
We stopped
off at
the “Dyke Neuk” for a meal on our way home.
Muriel Silk won the raffle and people signed up in response to
invitations from Beadnell and Hedgely WIs. We were suitably impressed
by the
standard of the food and friendly service on offer at the
restaurant.
We arrived home tired but happy just before
9pm.
