Report of Meeting held in November 2013

We were delighted to welcome Alison Strong to our annual meeting. The minutes of the last annual meeting were made available to members.   These were accepted as read.   The secretary dealt with immediate business which included telling members about a domino drive at Brizlee and a reminder about the photograph permission form and our cancer coffee morning.   Members were also urged to sign up for their contributions to the Christmas Social and to remember their presents for the secret Santa.

Our excellent treasurer presented a detailed and comprehensive financial report.  Shirley was delighted to be complimented by Alison on the presentation of the accounts.  The secretary then presented a review of the year’s events.

Alison then conducted a secret ballot and Joyce Shaw was duly elected and welcomed as president.  It was emphasised that this is for one year only and that she has no intention of staying on any longer than this.  This means that Craster enters its 86th year with a new president and a new secretary.  Doris Clarke will take over as secretary, with assistance from Muriel Silk.  Pat Jones will act as vice-president for the next year. We were delighted to welcome two new members onto the committee.  Well done to Nancy Nicholson and Rosemary Gibbs for volunteering.

Alison Strong then addressed the meeting, giving interesting ideas about recruitment and pointing out how members get value for money from their subscriptions.

The president, who is standing down this year, thanked the officers, committee and members for their support over the past three years.

Pat Jones won first prize for an object beginning with R.  Her offering consisted of roses and rosemary for remembrance.   Alice Green won the raffle.
