Report of Meeting held in January 2014
It was a case of out the old and in with the new at
Craster WI as this was the first “proper” meeting under the auspices of
our new president and secretary. Although we were a little
depleted in numbers as some of our members were still suffering from
the excesses of Christmas and New Year we had a lovely
night. After the official business was over and done with
we indulged in a good old fashioned game of Beetle. We suffered
the same problems as ever in this game, the inability to throw a six
when you need one and the inability to throw anything but a six when
you don’t. Our brains were taxed when adding up the scores but
Sylvia Biott was delighted to be the overall winner. We just hope that
our new recruit Shirley Jobling enjoyed herself.
Shirley Tucker’s consistently high entries in the competition over the
year were rewarded when she was given the overall prize for last
year. The new system of allowing everyone to have a vote had
resulted in a very close run set of results with Ann Mallen narrowly
pipping Pat Jones to second place. Heather Lee won the first
competition of the New Year with her three tiny teddies.
Marion Gallon and Sylvia Biott were hostesses for the evening. We
are looking forward to being spoilt next month as it is our annual
dinner at the Horseshoes. Sylvia will be our delegate at
the “Inspiring women working together 2014”. This is to be held
at St James’s Park and she is looking forward to being inspired by the
information on offer.
